Try to distract yourself by doing anything else ...okay video games or leave the house. It's just go to sleep...things are usually better in the morning. Call someone if you're in a really bad place!
There's also medication, PRN sleeping tablets or anxiety pills could help used in moderation.

Without knowing your exact situation, I still believe you have nothing to lose by trying this therapist out. If it doesn't work, you move on to another one. You and your friend are likely dealing with different problems, so go ahead and try.
