I guess I'd agree with Stephen. If you don't know for sure how you feel (and, of course, if this isn't an abusive relationship), why not try again? If it doesn't work, you did what you could and moved on. If you don't try, you'll wonder...

If the relationship itself is harmful to you or making you unhappy then it's usually best to walk away. But the strongest relationships are made when you communicate your feelings and get through the rough times together.
